What will you do?
As a DevEx Team Leader at Skai, you will lead the charge in significantly improving the productivity, efficiency, and satisfaction of developers across the organization. You will define and execute the strategic roadmap for the team and the platform, focusing on building easy-to-use platforms, services, and automations around infrastructure, software development cycles, and organizational tools to improve overall dev velocity. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership to drive a culture of developer-centric excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the DevEx Strategy and Vision: Define the long-term roadmap for developer tooling, experience, and platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
- Drive Tools and Platform Development: Oversee the development and maintenance of core developer productivity tools, AI enablement, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation services with a focus on tailored solutions for organizational scale needs.
- Platform Engineering: Design solutions at scale based on regular feedback loops and organization needs. Define, track and build observability on platform usage, utilization, costs and bottlenecks.
- Champion Developer Advocacy and Workflows: Act as the primary bridge between developers and the infrastructure organization, ensuring needs are met. This includes streamlining onboarding, promoting coding standards, and overseeing the creation of high-quality documentation and educational resources.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience leading a DevEx team.
- Ability to Lead and Mentor: Proven experience leading a team of engineers, with a focus on technical guidance, professional development, and project execution.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Tools: Deep understanding and practical experience with CI/CD systems, testing frameworks, and modern development environments (e.g., local environments for services, IDE optimization, AI integrations).
- Knowledge of Platform Engineering and Infrastructure: Experience with automating infrastructure provisioning and managing E2E platforms for Microservices and Serverless Applications, with built-in observability and IaC tools.
- Ability to Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working closely with Dev and Infrastructure teams to integrate developer needs into the overall product development process.
- Cloud Native: Experience managing production environments on cloud setup (AWS)
Advantages:
- Experience with DevEx/Platform KPIs: Prior experience defining and materially improving org performance/velocity KPIs, and developer satisfaction scores.
- Familiarity with specific tools/technologies: Experience with remote environments(Coder), dev portal / service catalog, Feature Flags management systems, CI/CD tools (ArgoCD, Jenkins/Github Actions) or similar internal developer platforms.
- Proven ability in Documentation and Education: Experience creating high-quality, accessible documentation and developing educational content (tutorials, workshops) for a developer audience.
- Strong Community Engagement: Experience building and fostering internal or external developer communities.
