Senior Frontend Engineer

Taboola, the world’s largest content recommendation platform, is hiring a Frontend JavaScript Engineer to work on Taboola’s flagship recommendations product. The position is open in our Budapest office, formerly known as Gravity R&D, now serving as Taboola Budapest, our R&D hub for Central Europe.
What are some of the things you do on a day-to-day basis?
- Work on Taboola’s recommendations ad formats and user experience – the backbone of the products of the company which stands at the intersection of end-users, publishers and advertisers
- Be responsible for creating, testing, deploying, monitoring, analyzing and maintaining all of a variety of new & innovative ad formats that reach billions of users and are used by thousands of advertisers (carousel, app install, video ads and many more)
- Make professional decisions based on big data and performance metrics of billions of users, while putting emphasis on business & page performance KPIs
- Collaborate with the Product, Data and UX team throughout the company to iterate on the design and implementation of our product.
- Stay up to date with latest browser features, Web APIs and related technologies such as Web Components, Lighthouse & Google Core Web Vitals, CDNs, A/B Testing at scale and many, many more

What are the skills a good Software Engineer needs to have?
- 5+ years programming experience in web development. Good understanding of vanilla JavaScript, CSS and HTML is a must. TypeScript knowledge is an advantage
- Experience with cross browser and multi device support – both responsiveness and feature support
- Familiarity with advanced “low-level” javascript/web concepts such as Event Loop, Performance API, XHR/JSONP, Browser paint cycle
- Basic level of understanding of web fundamentals such as HTTP methods & headers, CDN & DNS, how HTTP servers work
- Team player, able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and an independent learner
- BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
It would be great if you also have: ֿ
- Familiarity with any of the following: Google AMP, Lighthouse, ReactJS, Gulp/Rollup/Webpack, NPM, Java, Maven, Go Lang, Docker, BigQuery, MySQL, Kusto, Grafana
- Familiarity with methodologies such as Agile, Lean Startup, CI/CD, DevOps, TDD, Extreme Programming, SCRUM
Some other nice to have includes:
- Experience in web development
- Interest in UI design
- Interest in artificial intelligence and recommendation systems
- Hardcore table football, ping pong, or darts skills
