Description
Sports Illustrated is seeking a Social Media Director to spearhead our social strategy, aiming to find and engage new audiences. This role is crucial to our mission of delivering high-quality journalism across multiple platforms and will lead a team of social media producers to drive engagement and audience growth, collaborating closely with our editorial teams to craft and execute our off-platform strategy.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with Sports Illustrated and Minute Media colleagues to implement a cohesive content strategy driven by creativity and informed by data and analytics
- Develop shareable and engaging content franchises that leverage Sports Illustrated’s access and brand power, especially around cover launches and key tentpoles
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to expand our presence on key platforms
- Create bespoke platform strategies on an audience-first basis, set targets to align with goals, and track and communicate progress on growth and engagement
- Prepare executive briefing materials, facilitate meetings with internal stakeholders, and develop clear and consistent communication strategies for the team
- Work with the marketing team to align strategies for brand growth and the business intelligence team to identify audience opportunities

The expected salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $135,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and location. Benefits available for this position include a flexible vacation policy, 15 paid holidays, paid parental leave, health insurance and a 401(k) with company match.
Requirements
What You Have:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in social media, developing clear plans that guide content creation, distribution and audience development strategies
- 3+ years leading, managing, and inspiring teams
- Experience working with native platform tools and operating accounts directly, along with third-party programming or analytics tools
- Subject matter expertise and a deep understanding regarding audience engagement with sports and lifestyle content in platform environments
- High levels of data literacy, including the ability to parse internal and off-platform data to inform decisions
- Experience using insights and performance data to lead strategies and identify new audience opportunities
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication
